DSHA Increases Rental Assistance in Areas of Opportunity
To ensure that all Delawareans have more choice of where to live, the Delaware State Housing Authority is increasing available rental assistance in Areas of Opportunity across the state, allowing families with housing vouchers to move closer to employment centers, quality schools and high-growth housing markets.
DELAWARE REAL ESTATE DEVELOPER PLEADS GUILTY TO BANK FRAUD AND ENVIRONMENTAL VIOLATION
Christy Goldsmith Romero, Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program, and David C. Weiss, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Delaware, announced today that Joseph L. Capano, age 73, of Middletown, Delaware, pled guilty to one count of bank fraud and one count of knowingly violating the Clean Water Act. Capano faces up to 30 years of imprisonment and a $1,000,000 fine for the bank fraud charge, and 3 years of imprisonment and a $250,000 fine for the Clean Water Act charge.

The Department of Justice and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today announced a settlement with the Delaware County Regional Water Quality Control Authority (DELCORA) resolving alleged Clean Water Act violations involving combined sewer overflows (CSOs) to the Delaware River and its tributaries. In a proposed consent decree, DELCORA has agreed to develop and implement a plan to control and significantly reduce overflows from its sewer system, which will improve the water quality of the Delaware River, Chester Creek and Ridley Creek near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
