DELAWARE STATE HOUSING AUTHORITY HOMEBUYER FAIR IS GREAT SUCCESS

The Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA), in partnership with The Money School and the Delaware Federation of Housing Counselors, held its annual Homebuyer Fair on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington, Delaware. The Fair – geared toward providing prospective homebuyers with the opportunity to learn about the steps in purchasing a home – was a great success for the fourth year in a row.

SHELTERS AND SERVICES FOR THE HOMELESS RECEIVE FINANCIAL BOOST

August 23, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) -- Six Delaware emergency and transitional shelters for the homeless received a financial boost from the Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) to continue to bring needed services to the homeless in lower Delaware. A total of $100,348 in federal funds was awarded to homeless providers through a competitive application process in which DSHA has participated for twentythree consecutive years

August 19, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) -- Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) is pleased to announce that 335 affordable housing units will be created and/or preserved thanks to awards being made through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. New Foreclosure Grants Available

February 26, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) -- Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) Director Anas Ben Addi today announced that a new program, the “Homeownership Grant Assistance Program” (GAP), is available to assist homeowners facing foreclosure. The $1 million grant program, a partnership between DSHA and the Department of Health and Social Services, is funded through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA). Eligible homeowners can receive up to $5,000 in the form of a grant to save their home from foreclosure. The program will be offered while funding remains available up to September 30, 2010

Delaware State Housing Authority Offering Federal Tax Incentive to Developers of Affordable Rental Housing

February 23, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) -- Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) is now offering approximately $2.5 million in federal housing tax credits to affordable rental housing developers. Developers have until 3:00 p.m. April 9, 2010 to apply to DSHA for federal housing tax credits on sites they plan to develop for low-income families.

Agencies Join Forces to Help Children Exiting Foster Care Get Housing

January 27, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) -- Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) Director Anas Ben Addi , along with Secretary of the Department of Services for Children, Youth, and Their Families (DSCYF) Vivian Rapposelli, today announced that DSHA has been awarded fifty (50) Family Unification Housing Vouchers through the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development’s competitive application process. In addition to helping bring families together, these vouchers can now also be used to provide housing assistance to youth between 18 and 21 years of age who have left foster care and need affordable and decent housing in a safe environment.

STIMULUS FUNDING SAVES APARTMENT COMMUNITY AND JOBS

September 1, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) -- overnor Jack Markell, Senator Tom Carper and Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) Director Anas Ben Addi today announced that Hollybrook Farms, LP has received just over $4.3 million in funding through American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, better known as ARRA, to renovate units at the housing community located in Laurel. Specifically, the funding was made available through ARRA’s Tax Credit Exchange Provisions (TCEP). This funding will save the property from foreclosure and preserve 124 units of affordable housing, in addition to the federal annual subsidy of $649,000. The project will also help boost the economy and provide nearly 200 jobs during construction

DSHA Announces the Recipients of More Than $2 Million in Community Development Block Grants...

June 22, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — The Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) today announced that 15 communities and scattered sites will receive funds from the state’s Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME). More than $2 million in funding will be divided amongst the municipalities of Kent and Sussex Counties for housing rehabilitation, water/sewer hookups, and administration.

DSHA welcomes new Director of Housing Finance

May 19, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) — Delaware State Housing Authority Director (DSHA) Anas Ben Addi today announced that Cynthia Karnai has been promoted to Director of Housing Finance, an essential component of the senior management team of Delaware State Housing Authority. DSHA Launches “Step-Up” Housing Program to Combat Homelessness

Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) is pleased to announce the January, 2008 launch of “Step-Up”, a three-year rental assistance pilot program which will assist emancipated youth exiting the foster care system who are at risk of homelessness and individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse conditions who are chronically homeless or at risk for chronic homelessness.
